Zones and floor plans
Organize and visually map Resources when that helps you manage the workspace.
Zones and Floor Plans are optional ways to organize a Spaces workspace after its Locations and Resources are configured. Use them when they make the workspace easier to manage or easier for customers to understand.
Organize Resources with Zones
Zones are created at the Organization level and can be used to group Resources across Locations. A Resource can belong to no Zone, one Zone, or multiple Zones, so operators can group Resources in the ways that fit their workspace, such as by floor, area, or purpose. Zones organize Resources; they do not replace Locations.
For the full definition and management rules, see the shared Zones concept.
Represent a Location with Floor Plans
Floor Plans belong to a Location. A Location can have multiple Floor Plans, each with an uploaded image that represents an area or level. After choosing Add Floor Plan and uploading the image, operators can position Resources on the plan so the physical layout is easy to understand.
A Resource can be positioned on one Floor Plan at a time, or left off every Floor Plan. Floor Plans are visual organization tools and do not replace the Resource configuration used for booking.
Read the shared Floor Plans concept for the broader model.
Keep both tools optional
You can configure Locations and Resources and continue to Product setup without creating Zones or Floor Plans. Use Zones when logical grouping helps you manage Resources. Use Floor Plans when a visual representation of the physical workspace is useful.
Keep Zones separate from Product Tags
Zones organize Resources within the workspace. Product Tags are part of the Spaces Product workflow: they are assigned to Resources, and Products use matching Product Tags to determine which Resources can be included. See Products and pricing for that workflow.
Next step
When the physical workspace is ready, continue to Products and marketplace to configure how it is offered to customers.
